I can not expect you to blindly trust me, try my method!
I researched long and hard and found the right sources, tried and discarded many learning techniques. And on this basis, I have developed a new method.
I am not a professional, musician or music teacher.
Although I have completed a few jazz guitar and music theory semesters, I did not learn the essentials there.
So actually, I am a dilettante.
What does it mean to be a "dilettante"?
A dilettante is someone who loves and knows their subject but does not work full-time in that field.
However, for the participant of this course, i.e., you, this is a great advantage.
Why?
If someone has excellent expertise, it doesn't automatically mean they are good at teaching.
Because if you see too much information and too many connections, it will probably end in great confusion for a beginner.
It's hard for a musicologist who has spent decades studying music to imagine that someone else doesn't understand what he understands or the essence of music.
There is, after all, the saying: "you can’t see the forest for the trees".
All the many music reference books that are hardly read and are considered difficult to understand, too theoretical, are subject to this error.
My venture to neglect the details and concentrate on the essentials enable me to explain the rules of music from another side.
If you engage in the simplifications of a dilettante, as I am, you have the opportunity to keep track and learn something essential about how music is constructed and functions.
Then you will realise what the key to music is, what you otherwise don't understand or even find in other books or courses.
I'm just someone who was curious and found something great.
So I was able to learn about the discoveries of the excellent Austrian music researcher H. Schenker.
He has recognised meaningful connections in music like no one else.
So I have written three books on music theory based on his insights and my complementary ideas.
This enables me to pass on something essential about music to you here and now.
Discover the path to music understanding with me.
I always wanted to understand music, listen to it, and play and understand it myself. I have always been fascinated by the guitar, so I attended many courses to learn how to play the guitar and understand music in general.
But I was not satisfied with any course, every teacher showed me something, passed on info, etc., but the essence in music, what music is, I did not learn from anyone. What is the meaning of music? Listening, recognizing certain connections between the tones. So not only to read music, play some chords or melodies, and play and name specific scales, but to listen and understand music rules!
After I guessed it, I searched and read teachers, DVDs, and books. But none of it helped me until one day I came across an ad, "Listening like Mozart." I thought it was a joke at first, but I contacted the presenter. So I was able to learn about the findings of the excellent Austrian music researcher H. Schenker. He recognized meaningful connections in music like no one else.
My teacher then introduced me to these rules step by step, and we sang through most of the exercises! This is literal. By singing and listening at the same time, one grasps the rules of music best and fastest.
So through the method, my teacher showed me, I was also finally able to hear and understand music the way musicians do! I wasn't very talented, and I don't have the right ear, but I made significant progress through this method. I hear differently now; I enjoy music so much more! I write my pieces. Anyone can achieve that!
Me, a music theorist? And I haven't even studied music yet! I was only in a music school for a short time. To be honest, I wasn't a music ace before; my guitar teacher told me to pull myself together. I don't have an excellent ear, either. I'm average.
So how is it possible that such an average person, like me, found the formula of music?
I researched long and hard and found the right sources, tried and discarded many learning techniques. And on this basis, I have developed a new method.
I have now summarized my knowledge and would like to make it available to everyone.
My video course “ Ear training made easy” could help you with that.
